2. Unpromising= Unlikely to be favorable or successful, as the weather, a situation, or a career.

3. Slickers= A long, loose oilskin raincoat.

    I also thought this word was dificult mechanism-an assembly of moving parts performing a complete functional motion, often being part of a large machine; linkage.
